2017 | Week 01

2017_TitlePage_1.jpg

Okay, let's do this. Today I'm finally sharing week 1 of 2017. Trying to photograph things on a white background, trying to include a bit more of the "stuff" I collect from everyday life, and trying to tell more of the complete story, not necessarily more stories.

The title page for this year includes A LOT of bits from my stash, and a card from an old Feed Your Craft kit. Most of these pieces are old Ali Edwards, but the 12 New Chapters card I made myself using the digital stamp from the digital January kit from Ali Edwards. I love that she's releasing a new digital kit every month this year, and I can't wait to use them throughout my album.

Part of including more "stuff" means there will be inserts from time to time, which is a great excuse to use those vertical marketing cards that come in Ali's Story Kits (even if most have been horizontal of late). I'm also over the moon about my Mega Date Stamp from Studio Calico finally arriving. It was absolutely worth every single penny, but is unfortunately sold out right now.

Here's the left side of Week 01. I've decided not to number the weeks in the album, and instead just stamp the dates on the title card. Not all of them will include ALL the dates, but I was so excited about my date stamp that I couldn't resist stamping them all.

This year my album will have a TON of repetition. Title card in the top left. Weekly backyard photo in the bottom right. It doesn't matter when during the week I snap the backyard photo, or if it looks exactly the same as the previous week (so far they don't), I want to see the changing seasons when I flip back through.

The top right photo was all about how I dumped foundation on the edge of the garbage can, my leg and the carpet. I used this stamp set to put UGH on the yellow stripe card and tell the story of spilling foundation everywhere.

Phrase stickers are quickly becoming one of my favourite things to include and I love that Ali's are the perfect size to stack like this on the edge of a photo without distracting from a simple photo.

I am a supply hoarder. Seriously. I have a problem. But sometimes I dump a lot of embellishments onto one card in a beautiful little stack to tell a small story.

Insert_FrontBack.jpg

Here's the front and back of the insert for this week. I used an old marketing card from Ali Edwards, a couple digital cards from her February kit (here) a couple cards from the Inspire Value Kit from Becky Higgins as well as a little note my niece wrote for me at work (she's the sweetest).

Here's the right side of Week 02. I love documenting my workspace because it's either a huge mess or it's miraculously clean, but it's also fun to see what I was working on at a certain point of time.

I want to be able to have cards that just fill the pocket and are simple. I want to use more of the embellishments that are piling up on/around my desk. As someone who likes to keep things more on the simple side, adding embellishments always looks cluttered to me, but I'm pleased with how this looks.

It's hard to see, but the circle says "practice makes progress" and it's from Feed Your Craft (no longer available). I stamped it in pink to match the stripes on the card, but it photographed incredibly light. I stapled it to the card and added three little enamel dots. Simple (mostly) and done.
